Spice Route Chakalaka 2022 is a robust and expressive red blend from Swartland, crafted from unirrigated bush vines rooted in iron-rich soils. A medley of varietals chosen for their resilience to the region’s intense conditions comes together in a wine that speaks deeply of place. Hand-harvested and fermented in open concrete fermenters, it was matured in seasoned oak to preserve fruit purity while building complexity.
The nose offers aromas of ripe dark berries, black tea and a hint of cocoa, with gentle oak spice. On the palate, cranberry, cinnamon and clove unfold into a smooth yet structured finish with finely integrated tannins.
