Description
Planted in 1996 on deep Swartland shale soils with excellent water retention, the vineyard’s unirrigated vines thrive in hot, dry summers. Strict pruning, canopy management, and crop thinning ensure even ripening and balance. The wine shows a dense burgundy colour with layered aromas of plums, berries, fynbos, and cracked black pepper.
On the palate, flavours of pepper, clove, and red fruit combine with firm, grippy tannins and a long, savoury finish. This poised, sophisticated Syrah reflects Old World style and will age gracefully for 5 to 8 years.
