Charles Back Shiraz 2022 showcases the harmony between Paarl’s warmer mountain vineyards and Darling’s cooler seaside sites, combining richness with freshness. Harvested in March 2022, the grapes were destemmed, crushed, and fermented on the skins for a week, with careful pump-overs to extract flavour and colour without overworking the tannins. After fermentation, the wine matured for 20 months in French oak and alternative vessels before blending.

In the glass, this Shiraz shines ruby red, releasing layered aromas of blackberries, ripe plums, pepper, clove, and subtle cedar. The palate is bold and full-bodied, yet balanced, with luscious black fruit, spice, and a fine tannin structure that gives length and elegance. A savoury depth carries through the finish, making this wine both approachable now and capable of maturing gracefully over the next few years.
