Adi Badenhorst has been described as many things, but near the top of the list is always farmer, winemaker and parrot breeder… The 2022 Papegaai Dry Red (for lack of a better classification) brings together those three things in one story, one bottle.
On the nose: Fragrant cranberry and herbaceous notes.
On the palate: Fresh with a dry finish.
A portion of the proceeds are given to the Cape Parrot Project.

A little disappointed, it's not a full bodied red.
It's a real bastardo of a blend with minimal tannin structure which is EXACTLY what I was hoping for. Plenty of acidity to hold on to quite robust food flavours, but still super quaffable on its own. It's almost as lekker as the Cinsault. Will definitely look out for more when it comes back in stock!
